LG is set to launch its next flagship LG V30 on August 31 in Berlin and the phone will go on sale in September this year. Now, the company has also confirmed that its next flagship smartphone will come with 6-inch dual curved OLED display as rumoured before.
LG V30 will be the company's first-ever smartphone to feature a plastic OLED FullVision display. The company's last phone to sport OLED display was LG G Flex 2 which came in year 2015.
"With competition in the global smartphone space fiercer now than ever, we felt that this was the right time to reintroduce OLED displays in our mobile products," said Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.
LG V30 will be the first 6-inch phone from LG. The company has further hinted that the phone will have a smaller body than its predecessors i.e. V20. LG has reduced the sizes of upper and lower bezels in V30 by 20 and 50 per cent compared to the V20. Also, the company logo has been moved from the bottom of the display to the back of the phone to increase the usable screen area. The FullVision display has been enhanced on the 4.15 million pixels of the QHD+ (1440 x 2880) OLED screen. The phone's screen will come with Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
LG V30 to come with wireless charging support, may ditch the signature secondary display
LG V30 has been in buzz for quite some time. The smartphone has been subjected to numerous leaks and rumours in past. While the company has now revealed almost everything about the phone's display, the past rumours hint on few internal specs like the phone could come with dual cameras on the back. In an image leaked by OnLeaks, the phone is seen in a glossy black colour with dual rear cameras and a fingerprint sensor placed it. The volume rockers are expected to placed on the left edge of the phone while a 3.55 mm audio jack could come on top edge of the handset.
There are talks that LG could ditch its signature secondary display in V30. The company had introduced the secondary screen with V20. The secondary screen is placed above the main screen and shows 5 different shortcut buttons based on what is currently on the main screen. The rumoured V30 could be powered by the Snapdragon 836 which is to go official in coming few months. It is expected that the phone could house 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
