JioPhone, cheap data plans and everything that Jio announced today


Reliance Jio's 40th annual general meet saw some major announcements today. Company's chairman Mukesh Ambani unveiled the much-awaited JioPhone which will be available for buying from September and its pre-bookings start from August 24.

The company also highlighted that Jio in next 12 months will offer 99 per cent of 4G connectivity in India. The company said that it aims to open 10,000 offices and 10 lakh Jio outlets across major tehsils and towns by September to offer better Jio services. 1. JioPhone: Jio's much-awaited 4G VoLTE feature phone is finally here. The company aims to disrupt the phone market with its new 4G and LTE support feature phone which will effectively cost zero because the phone comes bundled with plans starting at Rs 153 and the price may go higher. The phone connects Jio's 4G network, supports VoLTE calls, comes  pre-loaded with Jio apps like JioCinema, JioMusic and more.  The device comes with 22 Indic languages support, distress number, dual SIM support, speaker system and more. You can also make video calls and access Jio services.
The phone has a 2.4 QVGA resolution, and a support for SD card inbuilt. it even has NFC and a camera. The other features on board are 4 way navigation, T9 keyboard, FM Radio and a headphone jack . The JioPhone will be made in India and will make the 2G feature phone obsolete, says company's chairman.  The phone will be available from September with pre-bookings starting from August 24 this year.
