Micromax Infinity phone with 18:9 display to launch soon, will take on Galaxy S8, LG G6 but with cheaper price

Home grown manufacturer Micromax is gearing to launch a new premium, high-end phone, called the Infinity, in the Indian market that would focus a great deal on design and camera capabilities. The USP feature of the Infinity phone, however, would be its unusual display that would boast of an unusual aspect ratio of 18:9 as opposed to a regular 16:9, something that has already been comercialised by South Korean giants Samung and LG. But while the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the LG G6 cost Rs 40,000 and Rs 60,000, the Infinity phone from Micromax would cost anywhere between Rs 20,000 and Rs 30,000, India Today Tech has learnt.
Not a lot is known about the Infinity phone for now, other than the fact that it would be a high-end phone with a Qualcomm-based processor inside. The Infinity phone would further come with high-end premium looks and a high-end premium camera, but it would be relatively more affordable than a phone like the Galaxy S8 and the LG G6.
Micromax YU Yunique 2 quick review: It sure is affordable
The unusual 18:9 aspect ratio (18.5:9 in the case of the Galaxy S8) makes phones longer than wider and is harbinger of edge-to-edge screen design that in turn leads to more real estate on a compact form factor. It would be interesting to see if the the Infinity phone from Micromax offers something of that sort. Also, because edge-to-edge screen phones demand a  flexible OLED solution that invariably raises cost, it would be interesting to see if Micromax would want to do that considering that the Infinity phone would be a rather affordable phone.
