Bala Malladi, CEO, Atria Convergence Technologies Pvt Ltd commented, "In Delhi we have always witnessed an ever growing demand among consumers for high-speed broadband connectivity. Keeping this in mind, we have revised and upgraded our plans to offer better speeds at no additional costs. We provide promised speeds to our customers - so a customer on 150 mbps plan can expect 150 mbps 24x7,365 days on his connection. We believe this upgrade will further strengthen our presence in the market and help us bring new customers on board". .

type in Hindi on Android phone, use official Google app

Hindi typing is not new to Android phones. For over three years now, there is in-built support for Hindi in Android, an operating system that powers almost 90 per cent smartphones in India. In fact, nowadays most phones not only support Hindi but also several regional languages like Tamil and Gujarati. Yet, a lot of people struggle to type in Hindi on their phones.
The reason why so many people still don't type in Hindi even when they want and instead opt for hinglish, which is Hindi written using English alphabets, is because the ease of use. In many cases, typing in Hindi means using a Hindi-specific keyboard or setting Hindi as the system language.
SwiftKey update brings incognito mode, bug fixes, new layout and more
The right solution for this problem for most users is the Google Indic Keyboard. Launched earlier this year, the Google Indic Keyboard eases the pain of typing in Hindi and makes it very convenient for users to switch between various languages without needing to change the keyboard. In fact, using the transliteration tool in the Indic Keyboard you can type in Hindi much faster compared to how you will type it using a dedicated Hindi keyboard. To use Indic Keyboard here is what you need to do:
-- Some phones now have the Indic Keyboard pre-installed in them. But most don't. Don't worry. Download the Google Indic Keyboard from here .
-- Once you have the app installed, tap on it and follow the onscreen instruction to set the keyboard as the default keyboard.
-- Once the Indic keyboard is the default keyboard, you will see the Globe key on the keyboard. It's near the space bar. Tapping on this will allow you to quickly switch between the Hindi (or for that matter any other language you have selected) and the English keyboard.
--When you switch to the Hindi keyboard from English, you will get three options. Option 1 is transliteration. It works best and allows a user to type in English which then transliterated to Hindi. So you can type "yahan likho hindi mein" and that will appear in Hindi on the screen. The second option is to use a proper Hindi keyboard. The third option, meanwhile, allows a user to draw on the screen and that is then identified as a Hindi alphabet. It is like writing Hindi on a paper although glass is very slippery and unless you have a stylus, this method doesn't work all that well. Ideally just stick to the option 1 or 2 and you will be fine.

Unlike the other local language keyboards, the beauty of the Indic Keyboard is in its simplicity and its ability to switch between the Hindi and English keyboards effortlessly using the Globe key. So while writing a Facebook post, you can write half post in Hindi and half in English without going into settings and changing the keyboard. Pretty neat!

Stunning photos using smartphone take to Tips

Smartphone cameras have seen dramatic improvements, but technology alone won't produce shots that grab attention.
That's where the human eye comes in. Here are eight tips to keep in mind when composing that shot, whether of family during the holidays or sights during a vacation. You don't need to own a fancy camera or mess with manual controls.

What's the subject?

Give people something to latch onto when viewing your photo. As a rule of thumb, close-ups are better.
At a party, for instance, avoid wide shots of random people mingling in a room, as the room becomes the subject - and that's boring. Instead, get close-ups of the guest or two who's laughing or singing. The photo is now about people having fun at a party.
People mingling can still be part of the shot, but in the background, to give people a sense the party's well attended. The same principle applies to parades: It's better to home in on one or two drummers than on the entire marching band, though the rest of the band can still be in the background.

Cyber attack: Here's how you can protect yourself

This weekend's global online extortion attack reinforces the need for businesses and other large organisations to update their computer operating systems and security software, cybersecurity experts said.
The attack largely infected networks that used out-of-date software, such as Windows XP, which Microsoft no longer offers technical support for.
"There's some truth to the idea that people are always going to hack themselves," said Dan Wire, a spokesman for security firm FireEye. "You've got to keep your systems updated."
The attack that authorities say swept 150 countries this weekend is part of a growing problem of "ransomware" scams, in which people find themselves locked out of their files and presented with a demand to pay hackers to restore their access.
Hackers bait users to click on infected email links, open infected attachments or take advantage of outdated and vulnerable systems. This weekend's virus was particularly virulent, because it could spread to all other computers on a network even if just one user clicked a bad link or attachment.
Lawrence Abrams, a New York-based blogger who runs BleepingComputer.com, says many organisations don't install security upgrades because they're worried about triggering bugs, or they can't afford the downtime.
Here are five tips to make yourself a less-likely victim:

Make safe and secure backups

Once your files are encrypted, your options are limited. Recovery from backups is one of them. "Unfortunately, most people don't have them," Abrams says. Backups often are also out of date and missing critical information. With this attack, Abrams recommends trying to recover the "shadow volume" copies some versions of Windows have.
Some ransomware does also sometimes targets backup files, though.
You should make multiple backups - to cloud services and using physical disk drives, at regular and frequent intervals. It's a good idea to back up files to a drive that remains entirely disconnected from your network.

Update and patch your systems

The latest ransomware was successful because of a confluence of factors. Those include a known and highly dangerous security hole in Microsoft Windows, tardy users who didn't apply Microsoft's March software fix, and malware designed to spread quickly once inside university, business and government networks. Updating software will take care of some vulnerability.
"Hopefully people are learning how important it is to apply these patches," said Darien Huss, a senior security research engineer for cybersecurity firm Proofpoint, who helped stem the reach of the weekend attack. "I hope that if another attack occurs, the damage will be a lot less."
Ransomware attack: Banks, airports, telecom services on high alert in India
The virus targeted computers using Windows XP, as well as Windows 7 and 8, all of which Microsoft stopped servicing years ago. Yet in an unusual step, they released a patch for those older systems because of the magnitude of the outbreak.
"There's a lot of older Windows products out there that are 'end of life' and nobody's bothered to take them out of service," said Cynthia Larose, a cybersecurity expert at the law firm of Mints Levin.

Use antivirus software

Using antivirus software will at least protect you from the most basic, well-known viruses by scanning your system against the known fingerprints of these pests. Low-end criminals take advantage of less-savvy users with such known viruses, even though malware is constantly changing and antivirus is frequently days behind detecting it.

Educate your workforce

Basic protocol such as stressing that workers shouldn't click on questionable links or open suspicious attachments can save headaches. System administrators should ensure that employees don't have unnecessary access to parts of the network that aren't critical to their work. This helps limit the spread of ransomware if hackers do get into your system.

If hit, don't wait and see

Some organisations disconnect computers as a precautionary measure. Shutting down a network can prevent the continued encryption - and possible loss - of more files. Hackers will sometimes encourage you to keep your computer on and linked to the network, but don't be fooled.
Ransomware cyber attack: Hackers leverage stolen NSA tool WannaCry
If you're facing a ransom demand and locked out of your files, law enforcement and cybersecurity experts discourage paying ransoms because it gives incentives to hackers and pays for their future attacks. There's also no guarantee all files will be restored. Many organisations without updated backups may decide that regaining access to critical files, such as customer data, and avoiding public embarrassment is worth the cost.
Ryan O'Leary, vice president of WhiteHat Security's threat research center, points out that this weekend's hackers weren't asking for much, usually about $300.
"If there is a silver lining to it, you're not out a million dollars," he said.
Still, "My answer is, never pay the ransom," Abrams said. "But at the same time, I also know that if you're someone who's been affected and you've lost all your children's photographs or you've lost all your data or you lost your thesis, sometimes $300 is worth it, you know?"

Google Daydream View VR headset launched in India for Rs 6,499,

Google has just launched the Daydream View - its virtual reality (VR) headset in India for Rs 6,499. Announced at last year's Google I/O developer conference, the VR headset went on sale in the US, UK, Canada and Australia on November 10, 2016 and has now finally made its way to Indian shores.
The Daydream View has been priced at Rs 6,499. It comes with a one year warranty and will be available online exclusively via Flipkart. The Daydream View VR headset features a body made of cloth which Google claims makes it breathable and comfortable. The Daydream View also comes with a motion-controlled wand/controller which allows users to interact with VR simulations using their hand. This small yet powerful controller lets users interact with the virtual world the same way they interact with the real world around them.
The Daydream View is based on the Daydream standard which was also unveiled at Google I/O last year. Daydream is a platform designed for providing seamless VR experiences on mobile devices. It works using Daydream compatible headsets which need to be paired with a Daydream supported smartphone.
At Google I/O 2017, Google claimed that more than 150 applications have been built for Daydream so far. In comparison, Samsung's gear VR store has around 1,000 applications. Google has done its bit by developing VR versions of some of its own applications such as YouTube and Google Play Store. There is also a healthy collection of games available on Daydream - Need for Speed No limits VR, Fantastic Beasts VR and so on. Other apps include Netflix VR, Guardian VR and New York Times VR.
Android O Beta: Top features, how to get it and everything to know
At the time of launch, eight manufacturers were named as partners who will launch daydream-ready smartphones - LG, HTC, Samsung, Huawei, ZTE, Asus, Xiaomi and Alcatel. Only Motorola with the Moto Z, Huawei with the Mate 9 Pro and ZTE with the Axon 7 have launched Daydream compatible smartphones yet. Samsung has also promised to make the Galaxy S8 Daydream compatible soon. Google's own Pixel and Pixel XL are also Daydream ready.
The Daydream View does not come with its own screen and instead piggy backs off the Daydream compatible smartphone's screen. Unlike the Gear VR, the Daydream View does come with any of its own sensors. Daydream-ready phones are built with high-resolution displays, powerful mobile processors and high-fidelity sensors. Stripping the View of all expensive sensors and hardware and instead relying on the smartphone to power things is what has enabled Google to price the headset so competitively.
Google is providing a few launch offers to entice customers. PhonePe users on Flipkart that buy Daydream via UPI will get a flat Rs 300 off on payment. Also the first 30 customers will receive a Google Chromecast free, and the first 50 customers will receive Google Play Store Credit worth Rs 500.

Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 Android phones launched in India, prices start at Rs 9,499

NOKIA
NOKIA
HMD Global launched the Nokia 3, the Nokia 5 and the Nokia 6 Android-based smartphones in India on Tuesday. While the top-end Nokia 6 has been launched in India at a price of Rs 14,999 the Nokia 5 and the Nokia 3 will cost buyers Rs 12,899 and Rs 9,499 respectively. The Nokia 3 and 5 will all be available in offline stores and to sell these phones HMD Global has tied up with 400 exclusive distributors across the country. The Nokia 6 will be available online only through Amazon India.
The Nokia 6 will be available for registration from July 14, the Nokia 5 from July 7 and the Nokia 3 will be available from June 16. In other words, the Nokia 3 is the phone that will be going on sale in India ahead of the other Nokia phones. The Nokia 6 and the Nokia 5 are coming only in July. In the market, the Nokia 3 will compete with a number of phones from Samsung and Lenovo, and in certain places, where Xiaomi has started selling phones in offline stores, with the Redmi phones.
Nokia and pure Android
Although in terms of specifications the Nokia phones look competent they don't exactly blow away the other phones in the market the way a Xiaomi phone does. Instead, Nokia is relying on the overall experience to woo buyers in India. And that overall experience is something that the company is hoping to offer with three elements: design, the brand appeal and pure Android.
Of the three, the pure Android part is the most exciting because this is something that other phones except the Motorola phones don't offer. Most of the Xiaomi phones still use Android Marshmallow and by using clean and pure Android Nougat aka Android 7.1 in its phones Nokia is hoping to offer to consumers something that will make their smartphone experience better. At the same time, Nokia is also hoping that its design expertise will help it create phones that look different and unique in a market where almost every phones looks similar to the next one.
Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 specifications

The Nokia 6 is an all-metal smartphone carved out of 6000 series aluminum with chamfered edges and curved 2.5D Gorilla glass on the front. It has a physical home button on the front that also houses a fingerprint scanner, and is flanked by touch-based capacitive keys which are backlit. The power button and the volume rocker lie on the right, while the SIM card slot rests on the left. It comes with a standard Micro USB 2.0 port (and no USB C-Type) and also supports USB OTG. This is the top-end Nokia phone right now although rumours of a very high-end Nokia 9 and Nokia 8 have also come in the recent weeks. But those phones will also come with a much higher-price tags.

Samsung's Q2 net profit up by 89 per cent: Report

South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics on Thursday reported a second quarter net profit of 11 trillion won ($9 billion), up 89 per cent year-on-year, the company said in a statement here.
Samsung's operating profit reached a record level of 14.1 trillion won, up 72.7 per cent. Its turnover also hit a record high, achieving 61 trillion won, up 19.76 per cent, Efe news quoted the statement as saying.
The numbers appear to be in line with a report on expected profit they released on July 7. This would make the South Korean company the most profitable tech firm in the world, beating the US-based Apple Inc.
In the second quarter, the divisions producing semiconductors and components boosted the company's accounts by jointly achieving 42.83 trillion won in revenue, which is 40.7 per cent more than in the same quarter of 2016.
The chip unit achieved this performance thanks to strong demand for high-density DRAMs and SSDs for servers in a low-supply environment.
The sales revenue of the company's mobile division is also up 13 per cent to 30 trillion won following the good public reception of the latest Galaxy S8 and S8plus high-end models, but its operating profit was reduced due to an increase in component costs.
As for Samsung's screen division, the revenue is up 20 per cent to 7.71 trillion won due to a greater sale of organic light-emitting diode (OLED) screens for high-end smartphones and liquid-crystal display (LCD) large-format screens.

JioPhone is a single SIM phone, doesn't run WhatsApp for now

The Reliance JioPhone, which was launched last Friday, aims to bridge the digital divide by bringing 4G connectivity to the masses. The "smart" feature phone is effectively available for free and comes with features never seen before in a phone at this price point such as 4G VoLTE support, voice search and support for Jio applications. But it also comes without some of expected features. Although there is no official confirmation about it, India Today Tech has learnt that the phone supports only one SIM card. The device also most likely lacks support for WhatsApp and Facebook, or for that matter the popular Android apps.
The JioPhone is locked onto Jio's network and will only be sold with bundled Jio plans. Contrary to earlier rumours, the device does not support dualSIMs and you cannot use it with any other network other than Jio. However, reports claim that Jio might roll out a dualSIM variant of the JioPhone sometime in October in which the first SIM will be locked to Jio's network and the second one will be free to be used with any other operator.
JioPhone is free but here is how much you will pay for using it for 3 years
While the JioPhone seems like a very exciting device that will allow users access to free voice calls and data via 4G VoLTE at nominal costs, the lack of WhatsApp support might restrict its popularity. WhatsApp has become extremely popular across India even in small towns and cities and has replaced SMS as the preferred means of communication for a lot of people. A report by Gadget 360 claims that the JioPhone will not run WhatsApp initially although support for the popular messaging app might be added at a later stage.
Jio has its own messaging application in the form of JioChat and the the lack of WhatsApp support might be a deliberate move to popularise the company's own chat app. The JioPhone is 'effectively' free - users have to pay a security fee of Rs 1500 which will be refunded after three years if they decide to give back the phone.
JioPhone seems great but it is probably missing 5 crucial features
The JioPhone will be August 15 onward with pre-booking starting from August 24. The phone will be available to everybody from September 2017. The JioPhone will come bundled with a Rs 153 monthly plan which will give users free voice calls, SMS, data and Jio app access every month.
There are also two sachet packs on offer which give a user two days and a week of unlimited voice and data for Rs 24 and Rs 54 respectively, although for now it is not clear if these packs are only for JioPhone users or for all Jio users.

BlackBerry Key one may launch in India on August 1

BlackBerry KEYone is expected to launch in India on August 1. The company on Tuesday sent out press invite which clearly mentioned that it is going to launch something, however didn't mention what. But, looking at the invite sent to us, we are expecting BlackBerry KEYone at the event, which is to take place in New Delhi.
The press invite comes with a tagline, "Do more. Different" which is the same as the company uses for the KEYone. This is what brings us to the conclusion that KEYone is launching in India. Although the company hasn't categorically mentioned about it yet and wants you to wait till August 1.
BlackBerry KEYone is a phone that is made by BlackBerry's new hardware partner - TCL.  To recall, the smartphone was initially launched at the Mobile World Congress 2017, back in the month of February. The phone comes with the typical BlackBerry physical keyboard. But, unlike the earlier BlackBerry phones, KEYone has a bigger display onboard.
In terms of specifications, the BlackBerry KEYone comes with a 4.5-inch screen with FullHD (1080) display, and uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. The phone runs on Android Nougat customised with BlackBerry's security-related tweaks and is coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage which can be further expandable up to 2TB via microSd card slot.
On the optical front, the BlackBerry features a 12-megapixel camera, while on the front, the phone fits an 8-megapixel camera with F2.2 aperture lens. The back camera as the company claims includes an image sensor behind the camera has large pixels, which may help the phone click good photos even in low light conditions. Further, the phone is backed by a 3,505 mAh battery which comes paired with quick charging ability. BlackBerry calls the feature "boost," which puts the phone in battery saving mode while charging, so that it charges even faster.
BlackBerry KEYone's global price was $549, and in India the smartphone is expected to be priced as high as Rs 50,000, and not any less.

Jeff Bezos surpasses Bill Gates to become richest man in the world

Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates is no longer the richest man in the world. Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos, on Thursday, surpassed Gates to become the world's richest man. The proverbial rise and rise of Bezos came after a 1 per cent surge in Amazon's stock ahead of the company's earnings reports. With the new development, Bezos now becomes only the sixth man in the world to hold the richest person title over the past 30 years. Gates had been ceremoniously holding the top spot since 2013.
"Forbes now estimates the wealth of Mr Bezos, currently Amazon's chief executive, at about $90.6 billion, compared with $90 billion for Mr. Gates," the New York Times reported .
Amazon's shares surged more than 40 per cent over the course of last year and at the time of filing of the report the online retail giant they had traded at about $1,063. The rise of Bezos also goes on to show just how powerful Amazon has gone on to become since its inception in 1994. The company that initially started as an internet book store has quite literally gone on to reshape the world of online retail across the globe. Amazon also enjoys a veritable repute in India where it competes with local players like Flipkart.
But while companies like Flipkart offer online retail and online retail alone, Amazon offers a lot more, including Web Services and online streaming via Amazon Prime Video. The company also has a personalized voice assistant called Alexa that is massively popular in the US and other markets and gives a major thrust to its Echo range of smart speakers. Alexa and Echo devices are still to make their way to the Indian market, however.

Ditching WhatsApp encryption will help terrorists: Facebook COO

Responding to a call that Facebook should do away with the encryption that prevents police from accessing WhatsApp data, the company's top executive has said such a move would make it difficult to track terrorists if government gets such access.

The call for ditching the WhatsApp encryption emerged after five people were killed in an attack on March 22 when Khalid Masoodploughed his car into crowds on the bridge and tried to storm the Parliament. Masood is said to have used WhatsApp minutes before carrying out the attack.

Computer Science Introduction

This lesson will introduce the concept of Computer Science and explain what a Computer Scientist does. It will also give students an opportunity to assume the role of a computer scientist. By the end of the activity, each student will have a take-home reminder of what he or she learned. You may be tempted to skip teaching young children the vocabulary words that are associated with the lessons that follow, but presenting them in a fun and playful light now is far more productive than waiting for more advanced opportunities.

GST ( Goods and Services Tax )

The reform process of India's indirect tax regime was started in 1986 by Vishwanath Pratap Singh with the introduction of the Modified Value Added Tax (MODVAT).[8] A single common "Goods and Services tax (GST)" was proposed and given a go-ahead in 1999 during a meeting between then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and his economic advisory panel, which included three former RBI governors IG PatelBimal Jalan and C Rangarajan. Vajpayee set up a committee headed by the then finance minister of West BengalAsim Dasgupta to design a GST model.
The Ravi Dasgupta committee was also tasked with putting in place the backend technology and logistics (later came to be known as GSTN in 2017) for rolling out a uniform taxation regime in the country. In 2003, the Vajpayee government formed a task force under Vijay Kelkar to recommend tax reforms. In 2005, the Kelkar committee recommended rolling out GST as suggested by the 12th Finance Commission.
After the fall of the BJP led NDA government in 2004, and the election of a Congress led UPA government, the new Finance Minister P Chidambaram in February 2006 continued work on the same and proposed a GST rollout by 1 April 2010. However in 2010, with the Trinamool Congress routing CPI(M) out of power in West Bengal, Asim Dasgupta resigned as the head of the GST committee. Dasgupta admitted in an interview that 80% of the task had been done.

Python Introduction

Welcome to Python online tutorial. It is based on the introductory Python course offered internally. Originally created during the Python 2.4 days, we've tried to keep the content universal and exercises relevant, even for newer releases. As mentioned on the setup page, this material covers Python 2. While we recommend "avoiding" Python 3 for now, recognize that it is the future, as all new features are only going there. The good news is that developers learning either version can pick up the other without too much difficulty. If you want to know more about choosing Python 2 vs. 3, check out this post.
We strongly recommend you follow along with the companion videos throughout the course, starting with the first one. If you're seeking a companion MOOC course, try the ones from Udacity and Coursera (intro to programming[beginners] or intro to Python), and if you're looking for a companion book to your learning, regardless of your Python skill level, check out these reading lists. Finally, if you're seeking self-paced online learning withoutwatching videos, try the ones listed towards the end of this post — each feature learning content as well as a Python interactive interpreter you can practice with. What's this "interpreter" we mention? You'll find out in the next section!

MVC Development

Being someone very interested in the principles of MVC (Model-View-Controller) Development, I was amused to see that there is very little written out here on the internet that actually makes sense. Most articles or tutorials use terms like “business logic” without really defining what it means, which makes understanding MVC all the more difficult. Others simply gloss over what an architectural pattern is without really explaining why you would care about it. It is my hope that I can attempt to explain everything you need to know about MVC in the simplest possible way.
My perspective on MVC is through PHP – my scripting language of choice Rapid Application Development in PHP Frameworks. The reason that such respected frameworks like Ruby On Rails and Zend Framework use the principles of MVC alone should be a hint that there is something special involved here.

OSCommerce Development

osCommerce is one of the best open source shopping cart solutions in the market today. The open source nature of this technology, in combination with the numerous advanced features it offers, has fueled the popularity of osCommerce. It runs on any PHP-enabled web server and on environments supported by PHP and MySQL (Linux, Microsoft Windows, Mac OS, Solaris, and many others).
  1. Easy to Customize: osCommerce follows a modular structure. We exploit this facility to develop custom online stores or add innovative features to an existing website.
  2. Manage Without Hassles: We load your online osCommerce shop with unparalleled back-end and front-end functionality, making it very easy for you to manage the site, and enabling the user to complete the transaction quickly.
